pictures

Earlier this evening, I accompanied Claire and Julien on an escapade to Carrefour, the wondrous supermarket of Europe (think Walmart, except European, twice as big, and full of things that aren't made in China). I snapped a couple pictures for the entertainment of those who can relate, and the education of those who can't.

While I was there, I bought a set of silverware! My very first set of silverware. Awww. It's a new step in my transition to adulthood.

My creative juices are running a little dry tonight- sorry to disappoint all you avid readers. Don't worry though- my upcoming trip to Toulouse will be full of new stories to tell and new places to describe.

I think it's hilarious! In America, it's so "stylish" to decorate everything with French, have little signs that say "Bon Appetit" and such, but here they decorate everything in English! I took a couple pictures at the store, this is the only one I posted. Also, the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom of Claire's house is an endless pattern of the words: "Bath," "Shower," "H2O," "Water," "Soap," and whatever others I might have missed.

typical french street

I dunno... I like the packaging?

Yummy! Anybody up for dinner with tentacles?

another charming cramped french street, with christophe surcin's audi (they tell me that's a kind of car- i'd never've known)

confitures bonne maman (for you americans, that's "world's best jam"- after my momma's homemade strawberry freezer jam, of course)

not quite a patisserie, but the pastry rack of Carrefour is still very appealing

By the way, Spencer, they don't have a specialty like gelato that I know of (I'm sure my mom or one of my aunts will correct me if I'm wrong). Most of their delicacies are different sorts of pastries. Earlier today, though, I did have a yummy ice creamy thing. I wish I could describe it, but I can't remember what it was. I will check with Claire and let you know.
Caroline, I'm doing the best I can with the pictures. I'll get more of the house and stuff, I promise.

  1. Hey tachy. It's yo sister. (your favorite one) You need to put up more pictures of their house and their pool! Other than that, your blog is quite entertaining.

  2. That is so much fun! I never considered english to be a "decoritive dialect". I had to laugh because we have our own foreign decor at my house. :)

It's really fun seeing your pictures! I wanted to run over to France real quick just to grab a pastry, say hello, then run back. I think i'll pass on "Tentacles for dinner" though!

  4. Here I am over half a year later. My, how time flies. Now, my family leaves for France while I stay and go to school. Ah, Karma. It's okay, though. I will survive! And then go on an internship to France. I think I will do that teaching one the year I turn 20...
