Chocolate shopping

The tinge of homesickness I had for a bit is now under control, channeled into the excitement that accompanies chocolate shopping. The best part is that I used a real live shopping cart and filled it up with groceries! And then I paid with a Visa card! I felt so grown up. All the mommies out there have probably forgotten the joy that it is to use a shopping cart when you first start shopping for yourself. This is actually my second time- my first time was when Katie Honey and I went shopping at Smith's for dinner supplies for Sadie Hawkins last fall. It's like wearing a T-shirt that says, "Hello world! I am now sort of an Adult! See? I'm shopping with a Shopping Cart!" I bought tons and tons of chocolate. Yum.

Claire bought me new sunglasses, too. She had me try them on, and they fit so nicely that I asked her the price. She said, "They're free- I'm getting them for you." And she yanked them away from me before I could protest.

Happy Pioneer Day! Speaking of pioneers, here the LDS Church has been all over the news since Obama was presented with his ancestry. Some people who (whom?) I think are slightly overreacting even questioned whether he should be given dual citizenship. Because he has a French ancestor. I say that if that's allowed, then I should be considered a citizen of Portugal. And China, while we're at it. Sorry; I'll step away from politics (not that I know anything about it). Anyway, there was a pretty big show on the whole thing, concentrating for a good chunk of it on the Mormons and our genealogical database on France 5. I've looked a bit for it on France5.fr, but no luck yet. I looked for it while the show was still going, though, so if Tatie or Papa gave it a shot, you might find it. It was pretty interesting. They were pretty fair, but I think that would have been better had they had a representative from the Church there to explain it, because all their information felt very second-hand.

The Surcins have two cats, Minette & Vanille. I think this one is Vanille. I thought my cat was weird for drinking from the toilet bowl, but these ones drinks out of the fish bowl! And sometimes the fish comes up and "kisses" them back (just like out of Pinocchio).

This is a breakfast bowl that was on display outside a shop in Vallauris (this was a few days ago), so kindly modeled by Jean-Robert. It ironically reads, "Et demain, regime!" Hee hee.
