doink! PBS KIDS

Just ignore the title, it doesn't have to do with anything. Today will be more show and less tell.

p.s. yesterday my internet went wacko again, so this is covering the last two days, mostly in order, except for this first picture

pps, i hope you all know that i walked from the louvre to the eiffel tower, after having been on my feet all day. i'm pretty proud of myself, it was a bit longer than one of those around-the-block-in-80-seconds. and it sounds cool

this is a pretty sweet picture, if i say so myself. you can kinda see the fabric-ish stuff that they put around certain parts at the bottom. i'm not exactly sure why it's there...

Finally a people picture :) this is a lady from Peru who belongs to our program. Her name... shoot, i just forgot. No, it's Sonetta or something like that. I remember, cause I thought that it was an offshoot off the word sonata, but it wasn't. She was fun. I feel like I'm adopting new grandmothers and mothers every day. (Of course they don't replace the old ones- I mean uh, real ones- but they're pretty darn good temporary substitutes)

Front of the Louvre, the gardens stretched on for acres and acres and acres. i didn't go inside, it was too late in the day

the biggest of the glass pyramids at the louvre. there were a couple different fountains with people actually walking through and cooling off. it was boiling. the weather, that is, not the fountain

i found a sneaky way to take a picture of myself without looking weird. haha. this is the glass pyramid, up close.

a nearby arch, can't remember what it's called
another fountain

looking up from underneath the eiffel tower. when i was there, a lady from bosnia asked me if i spoke english, and gave me a card asking for money for food in english. i exceptionnally gave her a little bit (there are so many beggars around here you'd become one by helping them all, and in any case i don't terribly approve of begging), and then a boy who heard me speaking english asked me for a dollar. He was with his friends, so I guess he was just joking around and didn't really think i'd give one to him, but my wallet was out, i was already feeling generous, and a dollar seems so worthless compared to a euro i gave one to him. haha, it was worth a dollar to see his reaction. he was shocked, then said with wide eyes, "Oh, merci Madame, merci beaucoup!" And started running around saying loudly, "Eh, regardez! J'ai 'one dollar'!" (translation: everyone look, i have one dollar!) while holding up his dollar for everyone to see. I don't think I've ever seen someone get so excited over one dollar.

the lady i visited this morning, mme bourdennec, again i don't know for spelling

  1. Lampost Jackpot! :) That's sweet. I love that you put that there! Those are some great pictures you put up. I especially love the glass pyramid and the eiffel tower. They look like pictures out of a magazine.
